Feet Feels Feeling Suddenly? This Can Be the Cause

Feet are weak and feel trembling, can indicate something is wrong with your body. Not infrequently, this condition can result in loss of balance and eventually fall. Worse, the condition of weak legs can have the effect of not being able to walk or stand strong. What causes weak, weak legs?

Why are your legs suddenly weakened?

Foot weakness can be a sign of certain health problems. The problem of weakness in feet can be experienced by anyone regardless of how often and hard a person uses his feet in daily activities.

1. Symptoms of stroke

Feet that feel weak suddenly can become one of the symptoms of a stroke. Weakness in the legs due to symptoms of a stroke occurs when a stroke causes damage in the brain, especially in areas that control nerve signals sent to the legs.

This damage results in a decrease in movement called paresis or plegia which means total paralysis.

2. Diabetes

Limp legs can be a symptom of complications in people with diabetes. Sometimes diabetics experience a form of nerve damage known as neuropathy.

This nerve damage affects the lower limbs and causes the legs to become weak. The National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse estimates that around 60 percent of people with diabetes have some form of nerve damage like this that makes the legs weak.

3. Symptoms of Piriformis syndrome

Piriformis syndrome is a neuromuscular disorder that occurs when the piriformis muscle presses on the sciatic nerve. Piriformis muscles are flat band-shaped muscles that are located on the buttocks near the top of the hip joint. This muscle is important in lower body movements because it stabilizes the hip joint and lifts and rotates the thighs from the body.

This muscle helps you to walk, shift your weight from one foot to the other, and maintain balance. It is also used in sports which involves lifting and twisting the thighs and there is almost every movement of the hips and legs. Not infrequently this condition can also make the feet feel weak.

4. Spinal problems

Medical conditions, which affect the spinal cord and nerves can cause leg weakness along with other symptoms, such as burning, pain, tingling or numbness. Some spinal problems that can cause leg weakness include:

  • Inflammation of the spinal joint.
  • Injury to the spinal cord.
  • Abscess or tumor in the spinal cord.
  • Degenerative disease of the spine (spondylosis).

How to treat weak feet?

Based on some examples of weak feet above, the treatment can be based on the cause of the medical condition that caused it. For example, if the weakness of the foot is caused by a broken bone in the leg or a problem in the spine, then surgical treatment or physiotherapy will help alleviate the condition.

If the cause of foot weakness is a number of neurological disorders, then consulting with a neurologist and proper treatment recommended by him will reduce the condition of the foot that feels weak.
