We call it spots, or freckles, or brown spots. It appears on the part of the skin that is often exposed to the sun, such as the face, hands, back of the hands, and shoulders, and is usually small but many.

Usually these spots will begin to appear when you reach 50 years of age. However, young people who often spend time in the sun also usually have these spots on some parts of the skin.

The good news is that spots on the skin can be prevented by changing your diet.

Foods that can prevent spots on the skin

1. Tuna

These fish are rich in nutrients, including niacin, pyridoxine, magnesium, potassium, and selenium, which can prevent and repair brownish spots caused by sun exposure.

2. Antioxidant-rich foods

Spots on the skin can also occur due to free radical molecules that attack skin cells. Foods rich in antioxidants, for example fruits and nuts, can neutralize the bad effects of free radicals, and change the appearance of the skin.

Examples of foods, vitamins, minerals and nutrients that can prevent and eliminate spots on the skin include vitamin E, vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc, glutathione, calcium, and vitamin D. But remember, you should get these nutrients from food and not from supplements, unless recommended by a doctor.

3. Fruits like vitamin C

Fruit rich in vitamin C such as oranges or pineapple, can prevent free radicals from damaging skin cells which results in brown spots on the skin. Vitamin C is also important to improve skin tissue and fight skin cancer.

4. Raw vegetables

Vegetables contain lots of nutrients, especially fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin B, which are important for skin health. Even healthier if you eat vegetables in a raw state, because this can cleanse toxins from the body which causes the formation of spots on the skin.

Which must be avoided

Consumption of high amounts of alcohol can trigger the appearance of spots on the skin. If you already have a lot of tanned spots on your skin, you should avoid alcohol and reduce caffeine, sweets, fried foods, and fatty foods.
